Direct answer
SSA’s current SSI reporting page directs SSI recipients to call SSA about changes to the bank account used for direct deposit. SSA’s general direct-deposit task says online availability depends on benefit type and will display next steps when an update cannot be completed online.
What to do
- Open SSA’s official SSI change-reporting page.
- Use the contact instructions under “Report changes to your direct deposit account.”
- Have the current and new bank information available, but provide it only through the official SSA channel.
- Keep the old account open until the payment arrives in the new one.
A personal my Social Security account may let an SSI recipient review some profile and payment information, but that does not mean every SSI bank change can be submitted online.
