Why certifications still matter
An appeal challenges a determination, but it does not create claims for later weeks. State unemployment systems use weekly or biweekly certifications to decide whether you met continued-eligibility rules for each period. Missing them can prevent payment for weeks you might otherwise win on appeal.
What to report
Follow the same state questions and report work, gross earnings, job offers, refusals of work, availability, work-search activity, and other requested facts accurately. Do not change an answer merely because an appeal is pending.
If the portal will not let you certify
Contact the state unemployment agency promptly. Record the date, method, confirmation or ticket number, and what the system displayed. Ask how to preserve the affected weeks. Do not send personal claim information to WhatDoIFile.
Does continued filing guarantee payment?
No. Certifications preserve the weekly record but do not guarantee eligibility or payment. The state must still decide the appeal and whether each week meets its law.

Some states use weekly claims, others use biweekly claims, and reopening rules can differ after a missed filing. Use the instructions in your state account, claimant handbook, and appeal notice.
