What the selection means
Your school’s financial aid office needs documentation supporting one or more FAFSA answers before it can finish processing your aid. The FAFSA Submission Summary may show the selection in “Next Steps,” and the school will tell you what to provide and by what date.
What to do
- Read communications from each school’s official financial aid office.
- Do not rely on a document list from another student or another school.
- Submit only the requested records through the school’s stated method.
- Respond quickly; the school cannot complete aid processing until it receives the required documentation.
- Keep copies and proof of submission.
If you have not received instructions
Contact the school’s financial aid office using contact information from the school’s official website. Ask whether verification is still required, which award year is involved, and what deadline applies. Federal Student Aid generally does not collect a school’s verification documents for you.
